Scope and Content: Material in this subseries relates to various Government departments, to their use and/or attitude towards the Irish language and to how government policies and legislation affected the language and the Irish language community. It is further divided according to Government department and is arranged chronologically within each of these, where possible and appropriate. [Archivist’s Note: Irish Government departments have changed role and title at various stages during its history due to restructuring which occasionally occurred following a general election. Sub-subseries were therefore arranged according to the department titles as they existed when the archivist was deciding on an arrangement for the collection (2020).
